OUR MISSION
Welcome to Keys To Connection!

We are a local organization in the greater Olympia area with a goal of bridging the separation between assisted living facilities and the rest of the community through music-centered activities.
​
We hope for the students participating to build lasting
relationships with residents while also sharing the joy of music.
​
Getting involved lets you make change in ways that might seem small but really do have an incredible impact if done with the right intention.

Music has always been a key part of who I am, having played piano since the age of 6. I am classically trained but have been branching out to accompany choirs in my school district and collaborate with other musicians, which is primarily what prompted my desire to start KCT. Music, and art overall, is one of the few things that can connect people so honestly, and I find purpose by making this connection accessible to underserved areas in Olympia.
A note from the
founder.
KTC with me, Anoova Sattar, in the fall of 2023 with a few performances here and there but never being able to create significant relationships with those I was playing for. It always felt very distant in the sense that I would do the following:

Enter the senior facility
-
Play
-
Leave the senior facility
and nothing in between.
The main flaw with this approach is the lack of personalization and engagement. I hope the realization that what is most important is making music interactive, above all else, stays with the organization and is always what we come back to when dealing with any obstacles or dead-ends.

We have to remember that Keys To Connection is about music and bringing it to those who can't access it easily. Music is natural like how smiling or saying the alphabet is and can connect people completely unlike each other. So there is no need to overthink it - the point is to just share.
